Doodles: From Notebooks and Warehouses to Trains, with a Touch of Class

New York City | New York
Illustrator | Freelance

When reflecting on my doodles, I find influences from the vibrant styles of Pablo Picasso and the energetic spirit of Keith Haring, particularly reminiscent of his creative fervor in 1980s New York City. My artwork embodies a playful essence with subtle undertones of depth, mirroring Haring's dynamic approach to art-making. I adhere to a traditional method of creation, beginning with sketches on a notepad before transitioning to digital platforms such as an iPad and desktop. This evolution allows me to infuse my doodles with a blend of nostalgia and modernity, resulting in a unique expression of my artistic vision.

Character and Story Development

Not the Average Johnsons

I brought to life the quirky and lovable characters of the Not-So-Average Johnsons comic strip when I first landed in the vibrant chaos of New York City. While the world has certainly become more embracing of diversity since then, the resurgence of hateful political rhetoric has reignited my passion to pick up the pen and continue weaving the tale of the Not-So-Average Johnsons. It's my way of injecting a dose of humor and heart into the tumultuous narrative of today.

Illustration and Package Design

In my experience, packaging tends to capture more attention and engagement when it incorporates elements of fun or uniqueness. Consumers are naturally drawn to products that stand out on the shelves, and creative packaging can play a significant role in this. By infusing packaging with playful or unconventional features, such as quirky illustrations, clever messaging, or innovative design concepts, brands have the opportunity to make a memorable impression on their audience.
